Welcome to Mount Olympus!
Have you ever wondered where the Greek gods came from? In this very first episode of Greek Mythology for Kids, our animated guide takes us on an incredible journey to Mount Olympus — the legendary home of the gods — and all the way back to the very beginning of the universe.
Along the way, we meet some of mythology's most amazing creatures: the half-horse Centaur, the winged Pegasus, the snake-haired Medusa, the multi-headed Hydra, and the one-eyed Cyclops.

In the Beginning: Chaos
Before there were gods, heroes, or even the earth and sky, there was only Chaos — a vast, dark, empty nothingness. No light, no sound, no shape. Just an endless void stretching in every direction.
But from this darkness, something extraordinary happened. The universe began to take shape, and the first divine beings emerged.
Gaia: Mother Earth
The first great being to appear was Gaia — the goddess of the Earth. She was the mother of all life. Gaia created everything in the world: the towering mountains, the flowing rivers, and even the god of the sky himself.
Uranus: The Sky God
Gaia gave birth to Uranus, the god of the sky, who became her partner. Together, they looked down upon the world and decided to fill it with children. And what children they were!
Gaia
Goddess of the Earth, mother of all life
Uranus
God of the sky, holding the star-covered disc
Kronos
Youngest Titan who overthrew Uranus
The 12 Titans: Giants Taller Than Mountains
Uranus and Gaia had many, many children. Among them were the 12 Titans — six sons and six daughters. These were no ordinary children. The Titans were giants, taller than mountains! They were the most powerful beings in the universe.
Each Titan ruled over a different part of the world. But there is a very important secret hidden in this story...
Kronos Takes the Throne
Among the 12 Titans, Kronos was the youngest but also the bravest. He eventually took over from Uranus and became the new god of the sky. Kronos would later become the father of the most famous Greek god of all — Zeus.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus
Our animated guide also visits the real-world Temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens, Greece. This magnificent temple has been standing for over 2,000 years! It's a breathtaking reminder that these ancient stories are connected to real places you can visit today.
The temple was once the largest in all of Greece, dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods. Even in its ruins, it remains one of the most impressive sights in Athens.
